Positions are created by unit position managers. All new positions require approval from central Compensation with the exception of faculty, temporary/casual, student, and cloned positions.

Prior to creating a job opening in HRMS, which eventually posts to the Careers website, a decision must be made on whether to use multiple position numbers for the job opening.

Pool approval is the process of evaluating the applicant pool for a job opening to ensure that it meets the University’s EOAA goals. The original hiring goals for the position are found in the EOAA Goal Setting report.

A position and headcount should have a 1:1 relationship (one position = one headcount). However, if certain criteria are met, it is possible to create a multi-headcount position.
