Background Check

  • Background checks and verifications are used to evaluate individuals’ eligibility to be engaged in certain work on a case-by-case basis for the University of Minnesota.
  • Units are required to initiate background checks at the University of Minnesota for those covered by policy, and must use the University of Minnesota’s designated vendor.
  • Background checks and verifications must be completed before an individual’s first day of work.
Departments should update this page whenever there is a change to the student's job status, such as termination or transfer.

A position and headcount should have a 1:1 relationship (one position = one headcount). However, if certain criteria are met, it is possible to create a multi-headcount position.
